// ]]>
The term ‘Intex Queen Airbed’ receives many searches online. This is mainly for two reasons:

Intex have a reputation for producing high quality airbeds.

Many people are curious about the concept of a Queen airbed.

Could such a thing be reliable, let alone comfortable?

The answer is yes to both. Intex, in fact, supply one of their top models – the Comfort Frame Airbed – in Queen size only. This bed is designed to be used as a conventional, permanent bed in your bedroom.

A word of caution is required, however. Before buying an Intex Queen Airbed – or any other brand of Queen airbed for that matter – you should be fully informed of the dimensions of the bed you are considering.

Intex Queen Bed Sizes

Intex Queen Airbeds typically follow the normal convention regarding sizes. The term ‘Queen Size’ usually refers only to the mattress, not to the size of the bed structure. Also note that in different countries the sizes tend to vary.

In the USA, Canada and Australia the Queen size dimensions are 60in x 80in (152cm × 203cm).

In the UK and Ireland – where, incidentally, a Queen bed is usually called a King bed! – the dimensions are 60in × 78in (150cm × 200cm).

In Continental Europe and South America the Queen sizes are 63in × 79in (160cm × 200cm).

And in Japan – where the Queen bed is usually referred to as a Wide Double – they are 61in × 77in (154cm × 195cm).

If you are buying a Queen airbed to use as a spare, which is probably what most people would do, you need to be aware of both the dimensions of the Queen mattress and the space you have available. You wouldn’t be the first person to buy a Queen airbed only to discover that when visitors arrive during the holiday season the bed is far too big for the spare room.

The Intex Queen Bed Weight-Bearing Capacity

Another concern or query people have about the Queen airbed is whether it can carry not only people of normal weight, but also those who are, shall we say, generously proportioned.

The concern is that an airbed may not be as strong a weight-bearer as a spring mattress supported by a regular bed frame.

Intex assure their potential customers that they have nothing to fear. Their Queen Airbeds can carry loads of up to 600lbs. That’s almost 43 stones!

Can the Intex Queen Airbed be used outdoors?

Many outdoor-lovers today take the comforts of home with them – and that includes their bedding. Intex Camping airbeds come in all types and sizes, ranging from simple, single-sleeper roll-up inflatable mats to full Queen Camping airbeds. Yes, provided you have a tent of the correct size, you can enjoy a comfortable night’s sleep in a Queen airbed!

// ]]>

Camping Airbeds from Intex are the cousins of the famous Intex Home Airbeds, but they are designed with the additional demands of the great outdoors in mind. More engineering has gone into the concept of durability. As power sources may be limited in the outdoors, the Intex Camping Airbeds have specially designed foot pumps to quickly inflate the airbeds – without causing you to pass out in the process!

Camping Mats

For the young and hardy Intex have a range of inflatable camping mats in many sizes. They are made from laminated vinyl for durability in all elements.

Each mat has a fabric topping to avoid the ‘sleeping on rubber’ feel associated with older inflatables. The air mats are easy to fold and carry in a backpack. They also suit those camping on a budget. These mats have an added advantage in that they can be dual-purpose: you can sleep on them at night and you can use them in pools or lakes during the day.

An alternative version is the Intex Wave Camping Mat. This has a gnarled or bubbled surface area so it provides comfort with less inflation. Its roll-up-and-go facility combined with its light weight makes this version even more suitable for hikers and backpackers.

Downy Airbeds

Fro those who enjoy the outdoors, but hanker after the comforts of home, the Intex Downy range is ideal. These airbeds inflate with either an electric or hand-operated pump, but like all the camping airbeds it comes with an inbuilt bellows foot pump.

The mattress surface consists of vinyl beams that prevent bumps and sagging when in use, and the 8.75” thickness of the mattress means that the sleepers are well above ground level. They can even use sheets if they wish.

The Downy Airbeds come in Twin, Full and Queen sizes.

The prestige Downy is dearer, and for the extra cost you get a powerful, battery-operated pump. Also, the flocked top is designed with camping in mind; it is completely waterproof and has a special, easy-clean treatment. Note that the battery-operated pump can be detached and used with other inflatable items.

Comfort-Top

The Comfort-Top range of Intex Camping Airbeds provides another step up. The construction is different from the airbeds already described. The Comfort-Top has a unique welding system to counteract the sagging and side-to-side dip that you often find in less expensive airbeds. The plush, flock surface covers not only the mattress top, but it also extends down the sides. There is a pillow top feature and a powerful electric pump is built-in.

The Comfort-Top comes in the conventional three sizes: Twin, Full and Queen.

Super-Tough Airbed

As the name suggests, the Super-Tough Airbed is designed to cope easily with the harshest of conditions and treatments in the outdoors. It is a light-weight airbed, yet it is engineered from an unbelievably strong fabric. It has a special construction that combines internal pillars. This provides excellent support, along with the reassurance that your airbed is strong and durable and is virtually puncture-proof.

The Super-Tough comes with a semi-automatic bellows foot pump, which makes inflation easy without having to rely on batteries or mains-electric power.

Unlike most others in the Intex range of Camping Airbeds, the Super-Tough is available in two sizes only: Twin and Queen.

// ]]>

The main factor that puts Intex Airbeds in a league of their own is the quality of their research and development in recent years.

Intex don’t just make airbeds. Following a catalogue of faults that beset the airbed industry as a whole, Intex now test them rigorously with members of the public before putting them on the market.

As a result Intex have developed a range of home airbeds to suit all tastes, all requirements and all situations.

There is such a wide choice of Intex Airbeds today that you need to research thoroughly before buying. The following will help:

Classic Downy and Raised Downy

The Classic Downy is the basic model in Intex Airbeds. It can easily double as an airbed for the home or a camping airbed. It features a plush flock to provide a comfortable sleeping area and is both waterproof and easy to stow and carry. Its 2-in-1 valve makes inflation and deflation a breeze. The included battery-operated pump can be used for all your camping inflatables – ideal for trips.

The Classic Downy comes in three sizes: Twin, Full and Queen. The weight capacity ranges from 300lbs to 600lbs.

The Raised Downy combines the comfort of the Classic Downy, but is raised 22 inches from the floor. This is ideal for those who prefer a higher sleeping surface.

Pillow Rest Airbed and Pillow Rest Deluxe

The Intex Pillow Rest Airbed is also suitable for home and camping. It comes with a duffel bag with a shoulder strap for easy carrying. It’s not quite as high as the Raised Downy, but it is lighter and has a high-strength electric pump. Its main feature, however, is the inbuilt pillow.

The Deluxe version is slightly higher (19 inches from the floor) and has a stronger structure round the edges to provide more stability.

Comfort-Top

The Comfort-Top is a sturdier version of the Classic Downy and this is reflected in the price. The Comfort-Top has a more plush waterproof flock, which extends down the sides. Sheets from your ‘permanent’ beds of the same size will fit perfectly. Unlike the Classic Downy, the Comfort-Top has an in-built mains electric pump for easy inflation.

Twin, Full and Queen mattress sizes are available.

Raised Comfort-Top

This is the Comfort-Top with a few enhancements, and again these are reflected in the price. The main difference is the raised platform which takes the mattress to 22 inches above the floor. This is perfect for those who prefer a more ‘conventional bed’ feel and for those who have mobility issues.

This airbed also has a wired remote-control for ease of inflation and adjusting the firmness of the mattress. A storage bag is included. The Raised Comfort-Top, however, only comes in Queen size.

The 2-in-1 Airbed

This is a really clever idea. The 2-in-1 consists of two full-size mattresses, so if required you can have two separate (but low lying) double airbeds. On the other hand, a central, 360 degrees, stout zipper allows you to combine the mattresses into one raised airbed. This not only saves space, but the raised aspect provides extra ease and comfort for elderly or frail guests.

The 2-in-1 comes in Full and Queen sizes.

Comfort Bed

This is another raised airbed (19 inches off the floor), but the difference is in the construction. It has two independent inflatable chambers, and an offshoot benefit of this is that you can use fitted sheets just like on an ordinary bed. The Comfort Bed is available in Twin sizes as well as Queen.

Air-Flow Bed

This is the latest addition to the Intex Airbeds range and it is designed to be similar to a conventional bed. Many reviewers have commented favourably on the sheer comfort of this airbed. The mattress is raised 20 inches from the floor, and like the Raised Comfort-Top, the Air-Flow Bed only comes in Queen size.

Foam Top Airbed

This airbed is truly hi-tec! The ‘memory foam’ on the surface of the mattress conforms to the shape of the sleeper, thus providing real health benefits and comfort. It has a remote control feature that allows you to not only inflate the airbed, but also to adjust the firmness of the mattress to your own preference. The airbed is raised 22” form the floor and has a weight-bearing ceiling of 600lbs.

Comfort Frame Airbed

Intex claim that this bed is so comfortable and is so visually appealing that it can be used as a permanent bedroom feature, not just as a temporary put-me-up.

Support is the main benefit of the Comfort Frame, as the mattress is positioned inside an inflated frame. It also has a headboard. It comes in Queen size only and can be transformed into two airbeds.

The Deluxe version of the Comfort Frame does not convert into two, but it has the addition of a backrest. This is perfect for those who want to sit up for watching television or reading.

The Comfort Frame Airbed can be fitted with ordinary sheets, blankets and bed decorations such as cushions and throws.
