About The Intex Airbed Company
If you’re thinking about buying an airbed, the Intex Airbed company has a good reputation for quality and reliability. They have a wide range of camping and home airbeds to suit all needs and budgets.
You may have heard of Intex because they are specialists in recreational products, such as garden pools, inflatables, boats and swim gear. They apply the same dedication to quality and improvement to the Intex Airbed as they do to all their manufactured products.
So who are Intex?
They are a well-established, international company with over forty years experience. They have offices and plants around the world – in California, in the Netherlands, in Hong Kong and in mainland China.
Airbeds have had a mixed-press. They had a surge in popularity in the later 20th century, but they soon hit a decline. The old airbeds were constructed of plastic or thin vinyl – which presented a range of problems. They were uncomfortable, they often smelled of plastic, but worst of all, they tended to deflate with body weight and often developed punctures.
Even Intex airbeds have not been without their problems.
Many reviewers on the internet talk about leaky valves, which have left them sleeping on the hard floor and waking up with stiff joints.
All I can say is that I have never had the slightest problem with either our Queen bed at home or the camping airbed we have used in the UK and throughout Continental Europe. I have consulted other users and their experiences have been similar.
I assume the leaky-valve problem has been addressed and corrected by Intex, as there seems to be far fewer complaints these days.
With regard to their construction, today’s airbeds are made from durable vinyl and are coated with a double-flock, which makes them ultra comfortable.
Instead of being hard, firm and bumpy like its earlier counterpart, the modern Intex airbed offers support and does not lose its inflation. The high-end airbeds even mould to the shape of the body. This aids both comfort and posture.
Inflation used to be a problem with airbeds. The Intex home airbed now has an inbuilt electric pump. You simply set it to go, leave it alone and in literally a few minutes your airbed is fully inflated. My only concern is the noise! Go off and do something else while inflation is in progress. And it’s probably better to inflate your airbed early in the evening if you don’t want to disturb the neighbours at night!
Camping airbeds often have the battery-operated equivalent, or for the worst-case scenario, a foot pump – but this is semi-automatic so you don’t have to spend ages tiring yourself out.
Deflation and storage is also a breeze with the modern Intex airbed. You don’t have to lie on it or squeeze it to get all the air out. Don’t ask me how, but all the air is expelled for you and this makes it very easy to fold the airbed.
Family Benefits of the Intex Airbed
Consider the Holiday Season: A time of cheer and goodwill to all. Or is it?
Okay, how about the summer season when friends or distant family stop by for a visit?
These can be great occasions, but so often they are spoiled by tension and frazzled nerves. Believe it or not, our Intex airbed has played a major role in fostering good relations.
You see, often the tension is caused by inadequate sleeping arrangements. Because Aunt Jean and Uncle Joe are the main guests they get the spare room.
But if it’s a large family gathering – for Christmas, New Years, a wedding or whatever – some guests have to make do on the couches or in sleeping bags on the floor. They arrive with concerns about this – which breeds tension – and when they don’t get a good night’s sleep, their nervous energy rapidly becomes depleted.
Enter the Intex Airbed!
Often the airbed provides MORE comfort than the bed the sleeper is used to.
And there are double beds, single beds, raised beds, queen sized beds, and beds for kids. There’s no question of one-size fits all!
The same applies to the Intex range of camping airbeds. We have camped in the Highlands of Scotland, which (believe it or not!) can be very hot in summer, but can also be damp and cold. In Continental Europe summers can be blistering hot, even at night. Wide ranges in temperature and humidity do not seem to affect the inflation and reliability of the airbed.
Check out the other pages on this site. Our aim is to give you information about the range and versatility of the modern Intex airbed before you go out and buy.
You can get more information on the official Intex website. These always tend to be one-sided regarding features and benefits, don’t they? – But at least you can get a fuller picture of the wide range of airbeds.
Intex airbeds are available in most department stores, such as Wal-Mart in the USA or Asda and Tesco in the UK.
Who knows, you may even start to look forward to the next family gathering in your home, or your next venture into the great outdoors. . .
